DEANDA WALKS AWAY WITH NEYO ON 3RD SINGLE

Teen pop star Paula DeAnda will release "When It Was Me" as the 3rd single from her self titled debut album. The track was co-written by NeYo (Megan Rochelle, Rihanna) and produced by Shea Taylor (Ruben Studdard, Wynter Gordon). DeAnda is also enjoying the unexpected success of "Walk Away", which was also co-written by NeYo with additional help from songstress Christina Milian and production team Stargate.

INTRODUCING - PARIS "THE ROCK CHICK"

Source

Paris Hilton has decided to turn into a "Rock Chick" for her upcoming sophomore LP, and even though not much has been revealed yet, she did confirm that a cover of Kim Wilde’s “Kids In America” will be on the album. Hilton also mentioned in previous interviews that “Daddy’s Little Girl”, a track she did with producer Scott Storch, will be on the track list as well. Believe it or not, but I’m currently listening to her debut “Paris”, which I bought few months back (and I still remember the look on the cute salesman’s face when he saw me carrying it, hee hee), so watch out for a detailed review next week Wink

Pop singer Gwen Stefani revealed in a recent radio interview with Kiss Fm that “4 In The Morning” will be the 3rd single from her latest album “The Sweet Escape”. The track was produced by No Doubt member Tony Kanal, who also worked with Stefani on “Luxurious” and “Serious”, taken from her debut album “Love-Angel-Music-Baby”. Do you think Stefani made the right choice?

[MONICA MANIA INTERVIEW] TORI ALAMAZE

Sexy songstress Tori Alamaze is no stranger to the music business, as she was a backing vocalist to R&B/Hip Hop duo Outkast. Most of you know her as the original performer of "Don't Cha" and "Take Control", which were later given by producer Cee-Lo to The Pussycat Dolls and Amerie. Fresh with a new start, Ms. Alamaze is currently working on her 2nd album, planning to release a new mixtape this February, and the video for her new single "Freaky Boys" has already been shot. I've caught up with lovely singer to talk about the music industry, indie labels vs. major labels, working with Cee-Lo, and much more … Enjoy, and don't forget to post your thoughts :)

When did you start your musical career professionally?

I've always worked in entertainment as I began my career as a makeup artist, but I started taking the artist side seriously probably in 2000.

Your music is heavily influenced by girl group Vanity 6. Are you a big fan?

Lol! … What I love about the music I create is that it usually reminds someone of a group/artist they admire… So thank u for the comparison to Vanity6!

For those who came in late, "Don't Cha" by the Pussycat Dolls and "Take Control" by Amerie were both originally performed by Tori Alamaze. Is it true that most of the songs given by producer Cee-Lo to female artists are Tori Alamaze left-overs? And what do you think of Amerie's and Pussycat Dolls' versions?

I wouldn't say leftovers, however the songs are inauthentic copies of my style.

Will we see you working with Cee-Lo again?

When the time is convenient for the both of us, Sure!

Are you currently recording a new album? If so, when is it coming out?

I have a mixtape coming out soon. In February, I'll be having a mixtape release party in Atlanta, Ga.

Those who visit your MySpace profile can listen to your track "Freaky Boys". Tell us about that song? And how did it come about?

I was totally inspired by Klymaax. The song is fun, and I hope my fans receive it well.

Whom have you worked with in terms of producers/songwriters? And whom would you like to hook up with in the future?

Right now I'm working with producers signed with Purple Ribbon Records here in Atlanta.

What do you think of the new trend of underrated artists switching from major labels to independent labels?

Sometimes there may be a bit more "freedom" with indies. It's all individual though.

If you were given a choice to join any major label of your choice, which one would you choose?

Any label that believes in me & the music and gets me as a marketing product Im with it!

If you could do a duet with a living artist, whom would you choose?

Martin Luther.

What does Tori look for in a man?

I like nerds … really smart guys!

Even though I've been hearing your music for more than a year or so, I've seen your pictures for the first time on MySpace, and you're very beautiful, Mashallah. What's your secret?

Sleep!

Tell us a few things that most people will be surprised to learn about you? And do you have any secret talents?

Most people are usually shocked to hear that I'm really shy and I'm a great back-cracker!

Have you thought about visiting any Arabic country? If so, which country is on top of your list?

I'd love to come hang out with you in your country! Smile ( I'd love that too Big Smile )

Is there any message you'd like to give to your fans all over the world?

The support all over the world is amazing.  I must thank everyone for their support!  Keep supporting authentic music!

RAE AND LEGEND TOURING AND WORKING TOGETHER?

Source

British songstress Corinne Bailey Rae is scheduled to tour with sexy singer/songwriter John Legend in April, and that can mean a lot of things, including working with each other for her next album. If so, I’m gonna be on cloud 9 cuz their pairing could bring out spectacular results! While Rae is busy rehearsing for her Grammy performance (and I wish her all the best), Legend is also producing tracks on the next albums by Keyshia Cole, Alicia Keys and his own protégé Estelle, who’s also British and worked with on him on her debut album “The 18th Day”.

MADONNA AND TIMBALAND? U GOTTA BE KIDDING!

Source

Despite heavily promoting his upcoming album, "Shock Value" due March 27th via Interscope Records, mega producer Timbaland is also providing his services to the queen of pop Madonna. The unlikely pair will hit the studio very soon, and I can't wait for their offerings!  I'm also looking forward to his productions on the upcoming albums by Nicole Scherzinger and singer/songwriter Keri Hilson, who are also guest-starring in "Shock Value".

MUTYA ROLLS WITH KURSTIN ON DEBUT ALBUM

Source

As it has been previously reported, former Sugababes member Mutya is currently working on her upcoming debut album, and the rumored lead single “Real Girl” features a sample of Lenny Kravitz’ hit “It Ain’t Over Till It’s Over”. She also roped in producer Greg Kurstin for the project, and the song he did for her is called “My Love Story”. For those who came in late, Kurstin is also known for his work on Jessica Simpson’s “A Public Affair”, All Saints“Rock Steady”, Sophie Ellis Bextor’s “Catch You” and Lily Allen’s “Alfie”.

JAVINE DROPS THE BOMB WITH NEW SINGLE

Source

According to the upcoming releases schedule by British music channel Radio 1, Songstress Javine has a new song coming up called "Drop The Bomb" featuring rapper Papoose. I'm really excited about this cuz I loved her last album "Surrender", which spawned hits like "Real Things" and "Surrender", as well as productions from Soulpower (Toni Braxton, Blu Cantrell), Stargate (Shola Ama, Lemar) and Johnny Douglas (Amerie, Kylie Minogue). Hopefully "Drop The Bomb" will be as hot as her previous material if not hotter!!!

AMANDA GHOST GOES BACK IN TIME WITH BOY GEORGE

Singer/songwriter Amanda Ghost released her new single "Time Machine" this week in the UK, and it features Boy George (who reminds me of myself in some kinda way, hee hee). I doubt this song will fair nicely in the charts, but she has nothing to worry about cuz the track she co-wrote with Beyonce and Shakira, "Beautiful Liar", will having her laughing all the way to the bank when it gets released. She also wrote a song with singer/songwriter Johnta Austin called "Erotic", and it was produced by Stargate (Claudette Ortiz, Megan Rochelle), but I'm still not sure whether it was a Janet reject (cuz Ghost worked Jackson during the "20 Y.O." recording sessions), or will end up on Austin's upcoming album "Ocean Drive"? Guess we'll have to wait and see!!!

Here is the album cover to Beverley Knight's upcoming album "Music City Soul", which is due 12th March via Parlaphone Records. The new set sports collaborations with songwriter/producer Guy Chambers, who previously worked with Knight on her last studio album "Affirmation". Tracks like "Everytime You See Me Smile", "Ain't That A Lot Of Love", "Black Butta" and a cover of the Rolling Stones' "Time Is On My Side" are among the confirmed joints on the album.
