[MONICA MANIA INTERVIEW] ROSETTE

Canadian songstress Rosette is best known for ear-candy hits like "Delirious", "Crushed" and "Uh Oh" off her debut album which goes by the same name. I caught up with the exotic beauty to talk about her future plans, pursuing a career in Bollywood, meeting the king of pop Michael Jackson, and so much more … Enjoy reading and don't forget to post your thoughts ;)

Hamada: - Can you tell us about how you started your musical career?

Rosette: - Well when I was very young, at the age of 5, I started to sing with my Dad and that's when he realized that I had a talent and he kept pushing me to be the best I could be.

I did various talent shows and went on to do one in particular called "PopStars: The One". That I guess you could say was my break. Then I found some great producers to work with, and the rest is history.

Hamada: - Word has it that you're recording the follow-up to your debut album "Uh Oh", is that true?

Rosette: - Yes I am, but its a long process for me as I want to make sure that every song I do is a great listen; not just one or two good songs. I want the whole album to be fantastic, so I'm very picky when it comes to which songs I want on the next record.

I want people to see the different sides of me. It's great to be able to put myself out there and have people appreciate me the way they do. I thank God everyday for giving me this gift and the opportunity to share it with the world.

Hamada: - Which producers/songwriters you're currently working with? And which ones are on your wish-list?

Rosette: - That's top secret! But as for my wish list, I would love to work with David Foster, Ne-Yo and Quincy Jones; He's a legend!

Hamada: - If you could record a duet with any male artist, who would be your first choice? And why?

Rosette: - I guess I would say Justin Timberlake or Brad Paisley or Rascal Flatts. These people bring so much to the table as they are extremely talented and incredible songwriters. I feel that I would learn so much from just being with them in a studio!

Hamada: - Why do you think it's harder for Canadian artists to break the U.S. music scene?

Rosette: - I don't think it's hard. It's just a matter of timing and place. It also has to be the right moment. Things can change in a blink of an eye.

You know you're only 3:30 minutes away from fame. It just takes that one special song and the rest is history or in my case "her" story. Lol!

Hamada: - You've done a little bit of acting by appearing on hit TV show "The L Word". Are you still open to the idea of making out with a woman in real life as opposed to reel life?

Rosette: …

Hamada: - Have you thought about heading over to Bollywood in order to pursue an acting career over there as well?

Rosette: - YES YES YES YES!!! Does that tell you how much I would LOVE to be acting in Bollywood films? I grew up watching those movies. They are great! To be in one of those movies would be a DREAM COME TRUE! I just don't know how to get there??? Really, I don't know anyone out here in Vancouver that has or does anything like that for people like me who would like to pursue a Bollywood career. I even speak Hindi! So if there is anyone out there that would love to have a cute sweet singer/dancer/actress to be in their Bollywood films, YOU KNOW WHERE TO FIND ME! Lol!

Hamada: - If you weren't a singer/actress, which career you would have chosen instead?

Rosette: - A DANCER! I love to dance: hip hop, break, Latin, any type of dancing. It's a passion of mine. I love being free, letting go and just being one with myself. I feel sooo ... I don't even have the words to describe it. Dancing makes me weak in the knees! I'm surprised I can keep myself up when I do dance! I love it that much. Music, Dancing Singing, it's all a part of me. I can't breathe without it in my life. I need it like we need air. : )

Hamada: - Describe yourself in 5 words?

Rosette: - Intelligent, loving, energetic, funny, and adventurous.

Hamada: - List 3 things that you're totally obsessed with?

Rosette: - Singing, Dancing, and Sushi?!!! (haha, totally random right?).

Hamada: - If you could alter one thing about yourself, what would it be?

Rosette: - Nothing!! I love myself just the way God made me. I am happy with what he gave me, and I wouldn't change anything even for a 1 million dollars! NO WAY!

If you're not happy and don't love yourself, then what's the point of living? You have to love yourself before you can ever love someone else. You have to learn to accept who you are and take it with pride and joy. Hold your head up high and say "I AM THE BOMB"... (Do people say that anymore???)

Hamada: - List the qualities you usually look for in a man? And what turns you off the most?

Rosette: - I think it all depends on the personality. I don't care what a person looks like as long as he's faithful, considerate and loyal.

You could be the hottest guy on the planet, but if you have a sucky attitude, too into yourself and you look in the mirror more than I do, then YEAH, you are NOT for me.

I hate guys who think that they are "God's gift to women". I absolutely hate them. YUCK! I think I just threw up in my mouth just thinking about them.

I just love honest, sweet loving, caring, kind, funny, adventurous, affectionate blah blah blah. I could go on forever, how much time do you have? Lol!

Hamada: - Have you experienced true love yet?

Rosette: - Yes, I think I have. It feels so good inside, and it makes me want to jump around and dance. True love is the meaning of life. Ha! Whatever makes you happy should be good for ya!

Hamada: - What do you think is the hardest part about being in a relationship?

Rosette: - Nothing is hard about relationships. It's only hard if you make it hard for yourself. You and only you have the power to make your life what it is. I truly believe that, and live by it.

Relationships are supposed to be fun, loving and affectionate. If you think and believe positive thoughts, then you can bring those things into your life with whoever you are with.

Hamada: - When was the last time you cried?

Rosette: - Ah! I cry everytime I watch a Bollywood movie with a sad ending. I love Bollywood movies! They always have some type of good lesson or moral story. I like movies that have meaning to it. Something you can think about and use in your own life.

Hamada: - Tell us something that most readers will be surprised to learn about you?

Rosette: - Well, I love Country Music! I'm a big fan of Brad paisley and Rascal Flatts.

Hamada: - What's the one thing you'd like to do before you turn 40?

Rosette: - I have always been a BIG FAN of Michael Jackson. I would love to meet him and have him teach me everything he knows about the music industry.

I would be so over the top if I could be taught by the KING OF POP himself to dance just like him. I mean who can say that!? "Yeah, well *Michael Jackson* taught me how to DANCE!" Whoa! Who could beat that???!

Hamada: - Is there any message you'd like to give to your fans all over the world?

Rosette: - First off I want to thank "The almighty GOD". Without him I wouldn't even be here. Thanks big guy for having my mom and dad meet and "doing the deed and creating me!" Lol.

Also to my FANS, thank you for being there and supporting me through thick and thin. Without you guys I would be nothing. My fans are my backbone and I wouldn't be able to stand up without them.

Keep living your dream and I know that it sounds corny but NEVER give up. I almost did, but I realized what doesn't kill you ONLY makes you stronger to survive. Remember that. No matter what, keep on grinding!
